Biography of Daw Hla Yi

Daw Hla Yi was born on June 30, 1971. She is the second eldest daughter among eight siblings. She studied up to grade four at the Pyin Kyi village school.

In her early life, she followed the Buddhist faith. At the age of 25, in 1996, she married Tun Bu. Two years later, on May 1, 1998, their first daughter, May Oo, was born.

By the grace of God, on December 25, 1999, Daw Hla Yi accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and was baptized at the Pyin Oo Lwin Adventist Church. In 2004, she attended the One Thousand Missionary Training in Pyin Oo Lwin. After completing the training, she was sent by the church to serve as a missionary worker in Ti Paw town.

On December 10, 2005, God blessed their family with a second daughter, Phyu Nin Wai Tun. However, a year later, tragedy struck when her husband met with a car accident and passed away in August 2006. Following this, Daw Hla Yi returned to Pyin Oo Lwin in October 2006, where she humbly served the church for eight years as a cleaner for the church, campus, and office.

On July 7, 2014, she was appointed as a Shan Language AWR (Adventist World Radio) Producer, a position in which she continues to serve faithfully until today.
